I discovered your blog by chance and loves it. I was in secondary school in the early 1970's. Swiss Ice Cream was our regular treat after school lunch. We bought these sweet treats from an old man who came to our school every day on a bicycle with a trail cart carrying Swiss Brand goodies such as ice cream cone and popsicles. Everyone's favorite is "Crispy Skin", a Popsicle with a crispy coating of chocolates and peanuts with smooth vanilla ice cream filling inside. I left HK over 30 years ago. Following your blog brings back fond memories, and also keeps me update on the latest HK food trends.

Hi Fat Joy, the 2nd item you mentioned is a Popsicle with orange flavor coating and vanilla ice cream filling. There was also "Twin Popsicle"', usually orange flavored,that could be split into 2 mini Popsicles and shared with your best friend. The Swiss Ice Cream Man also carried frozen papaya and frozen Chinese olives sold in small plastic bags. Is this Swiss Ice Cream building in Shek Kip Mei? I am heading back to Californiathis Sunday Nov 25th. I am thinking of buying the cast iron wok and metal pot shaped like a traditional clay pot mentioned in your section on pots and pans. Do you recommend these items? Please give me your feedbacks before Sunday if you could.

回覆刪除上海街區利昌既生鐵鑊值得買,不妨買佢既兩耳生鐵鑊,好多人遠至元朗天水圍都專登去買。至於似瓦煲既生鐵煲,我都係響上海街買,係cheap野黎,唔買唔會可惜。上海街d鋪頭好早收檔,最遲六點前要去到。
